Mission And Vision

The mission of Shining Stars Montessori Academy Public Charter School is to offer a quality Montessori education infused with culturally inclusive principles to guide children to develop to their fullest potential. The vision of the founders of Shining Stars Montessori Academy is one that seeks to alter the educational outcomes of children living in Washington, DC, thereby positioning them for future success. In keeping with our mission, we will strive to nurture the genius of all the children who come through our doors, guiding them in the principles of the Montessori approach.

Welcome Back! We hope you and your family are having a wonderful summer! As we prepare for an exciting new school year at Shining Stars Montessori Academy Public Charter School (SSMA), we are reaching out to families who have been a valued part of our community.
What’s New at SSMA This Year? We have been working hard to expand our offerings and support for our scholars and families:

2026 SSMA Reading List

It is our goal at Shining Stars Montessori Academy PCS is two fold: to continue to improve our students’ literacy skills year-round AND encourage a love of reading. The SSMA Summer Reading List list includes a wide variety of books for all ages , for all grades , from different cultures, bilingual books, fiction, and nonfiction. All of the books are available at the DC Public Library. Enjoy!
