Title IX

title 9

The health, safety, and welfare of our students, staff, and school community are of paramount importance to Shining Stars Montessori Academy Public Charter School (“Shining Stars” or “the School”). Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment, in education programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance.

Mrs. Cherita Moore-Gause, the School’s Chief Operations Officer and Title IX Coordinator, has been designated to coordinate Shining Stars’ efforts to comply with the regulations implementing Section 504, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title VI, Title IX, the Age Act, and the District of Columbia Human Rights Act.

This page provides the school’s Non-Discrimination Policy, and Title IX and Student Protection Policy and Complaint Procedures. These policies are also available in our Student and Family Handbook.
