Position Summary:
Shining Stars Montessori Academy PCS (SSMA) is seeking an experienced out-of-school time Coordinator to manage and implement SSMA’s Montessori After School Program (MAP Stars -EdVenture). MAP founded in 2018 by the Executive Director, is a school-run program will provide Montessori-themed arts, music, dance, sports, and other enrichment after-school programming for participating students. MAP-Stars EdVenture is a fee-based program.
 
The Coordinator will ensure we deliver high-quality, fun, safe and project-based after-school enrichment programming that delights the children attending our program. The Coordinator will be instrumental in ensuring that the MAP Stars afterschool program models the day program’s Montessori principles and philosophy.
 
Length of Position:
This position is during the academic year while school is in session. There is also the potential for academic year Montessori Academy (Saturdays), winter break, spring break, and end of year summer camp employment. The position hours are to be 1:30 pm- 6:30 pm, or 3:00-6:60pm Monday through Friday. This is a contract position.
 
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
● Designs all program ‘clubs’ (e.g., art, robotics, movement, coding, music, cooking, etc.), identify each ‘clubs’ learning goals, assigns and supervises all program staff
● Develops inventory list of supplies needed to implement the program
● Takes and manages daily recording of attendance and reporting ADA (average daily attendance) to SSMA
● Oversee daily snack distribution and cleanup
● Insures program fees are being paid and correspond with parents as needed
● Works with students during extended learning/homework time (primarily elementary students) to ensure all needs are being met on an individualized level
● Solicits feedback from the students and parents in order to improve the way a ‘club’ or activity is being offered.
● Responsible for ensuring campus safety for all students
● Responsible for ensuring daily clean-up of classroom space at end of activity/day.
● Communicates with SSMA regarding any concerns regarding students in the program

Required Competencies & Qualifications:
● Interacts with students in a warm and respectful manner
● A passion for growing independent, confident and intellectually curious children
● Act as a role model at all times
● Ability to provide services to all children and families with respect and dignity
● Demonstrated ability to work successfully with age-appropriate students, staff and in a multilingual-multicultural community of staff, students and families
● Ability to develop and implement appropriate positive discipline or restorative justice behavior interventions for students
● Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to create a fun and safe environment
● Excellent written and oral skills
● Knowledge of MS Office Suite and Google Docs
● A sense of humor

Education and Experience:
● Bachelor’s Degree is required
● Teaching license from an accredited college, university, or approved program preferred
● Prior experience working with, managing, and/or implementing an afterschool or out-of-school or extended day learning program for school-aged children preferred
● Documentation of elementary education, early childhood education, human growth and development, behavioral management, physical education, environmental education, art, music, and/ or early childhood education coursework preferred
● CPR and first aid certification are required.
● Bilinguality a plus

Compensation:
This is a contract position for SY 22-23. Salary is negotiable based on experience, starting at  $35.00 hour.

Working Conditions:
The working environment characteristics described represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The position involves sitting, bending, standing, pushing and reaching with both hands/arms as necessary, and may require some lifting up to 40lbs. In addition, routinely uses standard office equipment.
